AN OPPORTUNITY OF A LIFETIME!

Friday 20th May 2011: A group of excited students lined up outside Digicel office anxiously awaiting the chance to finally experience their dream of working for Digicel Tonga Ltd.

20 students enrolled at the ‘Unuaki ‘o Tonga studying Hospitality were given an opportunity of a lifetime to work as one of Tonga’s leading Telecommunication Company for one whole month. They were divided into different departments to receive hands on training where they gained the experience of directly interacting with staff and real customers which was at most times enjoyable but also placed them in some challenging situations on daily basis.

Jack Bourke, Digicel (Tonga) Commercial director said to the students “We are offering you the opportunity to receive insight into what you enjoy and don't enjoy in a working environment, demonstrate your skills and abilities, learn how to deal with people, work in a team and use office equipment. Most importantly this is your opportunity to gain a worm's-eye view of the realities of life, a chance to interact with people doing the type of work you might hope to do in the longer term.

Digicel Tonga continues to support the local community through major sponsorships down to grassroots level projects which includes working with Educational Organizations to assist in educating Tonga’s up and coming generation for a better chance in life.
