Digicel Promote Thunderous Cheering at InterCollege Sports Competition
30th April, 2013, Nuku'alofa, A massive crowd of 10,000 came along to the Inter College Sport Competition. Digicel also a big supporter of the 3 day event where there encouraging the crowd to make a lot of noise in support of the athletes with the added incentive of their Crazy Cash Prize School Cheering Competition, which offered a cool $3000 in cash for the loudest earsplitting of supporters.
DigiNet mascots where on hand hyping up the crowd and generating much excitement in the build up to the judging even which was led by Digicel Tonga’s CEO Mr. Jesse Allison, together with DigiTV Manager Joanna Bourke, Law practitioner Dana Stephenson and DJ Lala from 88.6FM.
All High Schools from Tongatapu plus many representatives from the outer islands took part in the event.
The Judges selected the worthy winners from the Top 3 Schools who where the loudest and proudest of supporters with the 1st Prize of $1,500 won by ‘Apifo’ou College, 2nd prize of $1,000 by Tupou College Toloa and 3rd prize of $500 won by Liahona High School.
Principal of Apifo’ou College and president of the principals committee, Fr. ‘Aisake says “It’s been great having this kind of entertainment and it helps the students build sportsmanship and self-esteem by cheering for something great. A big thank you to Digicel for running this program the money we received was very helpful for the students studying and also repairing some school’s equipment.
