DIGICEL (TONGA) HOSTS MINISTRY OF INFORMATION AND COMMUNICATIONS

COCKTAIL RECEPTION.

Wednesday 27th April 2011: Digicel (Tonga) is honoured to be involved in one of Tonga’s major regional workshop. This workshop is convened by the Secretariat of the Pacific Community (SPC), in partnership with the Australian Attorney-General’s Department (AGD) and the Council of Europe (CoE).

It has been given the privileged for the Digicel (Tonga) staff to host the first night for the delegates at a Cocktail reception held at Davinas on Wednesday evening 27th April 2011. They are very fortunate given the opportunity to participate in the workshop as one of Tonga’s main internet provider through its involvement with communication technology and information.

Digicel Tonga Commercial Manager Jack Bourke said that this was a great opportunity for the Bigger and Better Network to host the visiting delegates whilst in the Kingdom. Davina Events Centre is a wonderful backdrop to host the reception as it boasts a wonderful seaview, fantastic Tongan cuisine and entertainment led by Digicel Ambassador Finau Afeaki.

This is a regional conference hosted by Tonga’s Ministry of Information and Communication with participants from 14 Pacific Islands including Tonga and three organisations who have come to take part in this important conference Pacific Cybercrime Legislation workshop commencing 27th -29th April, 2011. The main objective of the workshop is to analyse cybercrime legislation in the Pacific and ensure the laws in each country are up to international standards, in order to protect the citizens from cybercrime and criminals.

In return, it shows the commitment Digicel (Tonga) has with its development of their communication technology in providing the best network service to the people of Tonga.
