DIGITV to broadcast all 64 fifa world cup matches live
Friday 10th June 2010 – Nuku’alofa: Digicel Pacific having signed off a sponsorship agreement with FIFA to secure title sponsorship broadcasting rights to air the 19th FIFA World Cup Tournament in Fiji, Samoa, PNG, Vanuatu as well Tonga, hence allowing DigiTV to Air all 64 World Cup Matches live.
The 2010 FIFA World Cup is the culmination of a qualification process that began in August 2007, which has seen 32 of 208 national teams make it through to qualify for the World Cup tournament. With the broadcasting agreement in place, Digicel through DigiTV is able to broadcast games live and direct straight out of South Africa where games commencing on the 11th June 2010 ending with the final match scheduled for the 11th July 2010.
“The FIFA World Cup series is one of the biggest tournaments in the world and it is something we do not want our Customers to miss out on. We want our TV Customers watching the games first hand live and direct which is why we have gone to lengths to secure broadcasting rights to air the games.” Says Jack Bourke, Commercial Manager for Digicel (Tonga) Ltd.
