Digicel Helps ‘Keep Tonga Clean’

Digicel Tonga celebrated the “Keep the Kingdom of Tonga Clean Campaign” on Saturday, October 11 by turning up in numbers to clean their allocated area along the waterfront. The campaign was organized by the Tonga Waste Management Program with the assistance of Digicel and other organizations.

Over 30 Digicel staff joined the clean up campaign, equipped with gloves, bags and, of course, Digicel T-shirts emblazoned with “Keep Tonga Clean”.

In combination with the clean up program, Digicel was also the main sponsor of prizes for the Handicrafts and Trash to Art Fashion Competitions. Local artists used disposable materials in their creations (e.g. a miniature Digicel House made of Digicel top-up cards).

The campaign was well supported by members of the Tongan Royal Family, Nobles of the Realm, Government and the private sector.

The General Manager for Digicel Tonga, Crystal Middleton-Lunn, presented the prizes for the winners in each category and thanked the organizers for their effort in putting together a successful campaign, which helped build awareness to keep Tonga a clean place for everyone to enjoy.

This is another example of Digicel’s commitment to supporting our local communities.
